sheats-goldsetein residence [los angeles]
by john lautner
this bespoke home is a prime example of organic architecture which was designed from the inside to the outside in order to emphasize a seamless connectivity to nature. single pane glazing is caulked directly to rocks in certain areas and the entry sequence features a waterfall wall moment which traverses from the entry court inside the living room which further emphasizes the blend of the built environment within the natural beauty of the site. a majority of the circulation for the residence is exterior, the large skylight over the dining room fully retracts, and the master bedroom’s glazed corner silently slides apart to further emphasize this point. over the years every detail has been carefully crafted from hidden folding tv displays to an incredible all-glass lavatory. once inside this magical retreat above los angeles you will wish you got lost forever.
